The SFBB Pro app has officially been approved by Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) following the formation of a partnership authority with Dorset Council.
The app, which digitalises the Food Standards Agency’s “Safer Food, Better Business” (SFBB) packs, provides food businesses with an easy-to-use platform for managing essential food safety documentation. Traditionally, businesses have relied on paper-based packs to demonstrate compliance, but SFBB Pro offers a streamlined alternative—bringing record-keeping, guidance, and daily food safety checks into one accessible digital system.
The partnership with Dorset Council marks the first time a local authority has formally worked with SFBB Pro to validate its use as an EHO-approved method of compliance. This means businesses using the app within the council’s jurisdiction can now demonstrate full compliance with food hygiene regulations digitally, reducing paperwork while maintaining the same rigorous standards expected by inspectors.
“This is an important milestone, not just for Dorset, but for food businesses across the UK,” said a Dorset Council spokesperson. “The SFBB Pro app helps take the complexity out of food safety management, and we are confident it will benefit small and medium-sized businesses that often struggle with paperwork-heavy compliance.”
The app’s developers emphasised that the partnership reinforces their mission to modernise food safety processes. “We’re thrilled to have Dorset Council’s support and recognition,” said the SFBB Pro team. “Being EHO-approved shows that digital solutions can be trusted, reliable, and even preferred when it comes to food safety compliance.”
Industry insiders believe this partnership could pave the way for more councils to follow suit, helping thousands of cafés, restaurants, takeaways, and catering businesses transition to digital compliance systems.
With Dorset Council leading the way, SFBB Pro may soon become a nationwide standard for food safety management, bringing efficiency and peace of mind to food business operators and EHOs alike.
